ADVANCED EMT PROGRAM

Designed to provide expanded depth and breadth for students who have completed an Emergency Medical Technician course, this curriculum meets the National EMS Education Standards for training of the Advanced EMT (AEMT). The AEMT provides basic and limited advanced medical care to ill and injured patients above the scope of an EMT.  Program curriculum includes pathophysiology of medical and traumatic conditions, critical thinking skills, some advanced airway management, basic pharmacology, incident operations, intravenous therapy and fluid administration along with field and hospital experiences.

TUITION

Program cost:  $2500.00

COURSE REQUIREMENTS:

Current EMT certification

American Heart Association BLS healthcare provider CPR certification is included in the course.

Clinical requirements for each student will be scheduled during the course. All clinicals are scheduled with agencies in Ada, Canyon and Payette County.  If you would like to schedule clinical time with an agency outside of those locations this can be arranged but it must be done with cooperation between the outside agency and STEMI.  Please let us know if you are interested in this option at the beginning of your Advanced EMT course.

STEMI will provide the NREMT psychomotor testing at the conclusion of the course as part of the cost of tuition.

Following successful completion of the Advanced EMT program, you will be eligible to take the National Registry written and practical exam (National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians – NREMT).  You will also be eligible to become licensed as an Advanced EMT through the State of Idaho upon affiliation with a licensed agency.
